objective is simple: beat the dealer. You achieve this by getting a hand value as close to 21 as possible without exceeding it (going bust), and by having a higher value hand than the dealer.

The game uses a standard 52-card deck, and often multiple decks are shuffled together. Each card is worth its face value, with numbered cards holding their numerical value (2-10). Face cards (Jack, Queen, King) are each worth 10, and an Ace can be worth either 1 or 11, depending on which value benefits your hand the most.

Betting and Dealing

Before the cards are dealt, you place your bet. The dealer then deals two cards to each player, face up, and two cards to themselves; one face up and one face down (the 'hole card'). This is the initial stage, and youll instantly consider your hand and the dealer's upcard to figure out your next strategic move.

Playing Your Hand: Hit, Stand, and More

Once the initial cards are dealt, you have choices regarding your hand. Your options are:

Dealer's Actions

The dealer follows a fixed set of rules. They must hit until their hand value is 17 or higher. When the dealers hand reaches 17 or more, they must stand. This difference in strategy between the player and dealer offers the player a strategic advantage.

Winning and Losing

You win if your hand is closer to 21 than the dealer's hand, or if the dealer busts (exceeds 21). A blackjack (an Ace and a 10-value card dealt as your first two cards) pays out at 3:2. You lose if your hand busts, or if the dealer has a higher hand value. Ties result in a push (no win, no loss your bet is returned).

Understanding and applying these blackjack rules is crucial for your success when playing at Australian casinos or online. Remember to practice responsible gambling and enjoy the game!
